ＢＬＤＳＣ Article Delivery服務簡介

壹、前言

您是否常有需要某份期刊或會議論文集，但遍尋國內卻沒有您所需資料的
經驗？在以往，我們會透過國外館際合作的管道，經由國科會科資中心向國外
申請取得，其所需時間在 25-60天不等，收費每十頁約需新臺幣280元。但現在
您可以有第二種選擇，即透過網路查詢並線上訂購您所需的資料 (所謂 Article
Access & Delivery)，當然前提是系統中必須有您要的資料。收費雖不會比傳統國
外館際合作便宜，但回件速度卻快得多，此乃因其是以FAX方式寄件(即使mail
也只需七天的時間)。

目前在Internet上有好幾個提供Current Article Indexes and Access服務的資料
庫系統，在第一期館訊中我們曾介紹了〞UnCover”，其特點是可檢索到一萬
四千多種期刊的期刊目次內容，即使用者可以以期刊篇名、作者的關鍵字，或
刊名進行檢索。在查詢到您要的資料後，系統會顯示這份資料delivery的費用，
使用者即可進行線上訂購。但據筆者使用的經驗，其收錄的期刊大多為美國的
出版品，可能有些英國出版品會找不到；同時其祗收錄期刊，較少會議論文集
(PROCEEDINGS)方面旳資料。因此，本期館訊我們即介紹另一文件傳送服務
系統--ＢＬＤＳＣ(British Library Document Supply Centre) Article Delivery。

貳、資料庫收錄範圍

顧名思義，大英圖書館文獻供應中心(BLDSC) 的文件傳送服務，其所提供
的文件自然是大英圖書館的館藏資料，因此英國的出版品較容易在此找到，而
外國的出版品也不少。同時，資料類型也不限於期刊，還有會議論文集等。此
外，其提供的文件年代界限以圖書館所擁有的館藏為主，不似UnCover資料庫,
目前期刊目次的回溯建檔可能祗到1988, 1987。

下圖即顯示BLDSC 的收錄範圍、計費方式、檢索說明等：

　The British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) is the most com-
　prehensive document delivery service in the world. Its serial database
　lists 54,000 currently received titles.

　To order an article from these journals, simply search the file by
　title, add the article details, and place your order. All articles
　will be sent to you by fax. Cost for delivery is $20 per article,
　copyright cleared.

　BLDSC also holds runs of 170,000 journals which have ceased publi-
　cation. Articles from these journals can also be requested. This
　service, and its cost, is the same as for items supplied from the
　current serials database.

參、連線及檢索方式

一、連線步驟：(除以下所示，亦可經由其他系統進入)

1.telnet 192.54.81.128
2.鍵入PAC
3.選機型
4.依其指示按Enter, 然後選"2.Current Article Indexes and Access"
5.選 "57. British Library Document Supply Centre (Article Delivery)",
　即進入BLDSC主畫面。

二、檢索方式：

由圖一中可看出BLDSC 提供的檢索點有關鍵字及書(刊)名，以下簡單說明
此二檢索點的檢索方式：

(一)Word：如下圖之說明，其會在書(刊)名、標題等處進行關鍵字的查詢。

伍、計費及訂購方式

BLDSC每篇論文的傳送費用為US$20.00，其線上訂購的程序如下：

　1．在圖一選 D (delivery information)，進入以下畫面；或在書目資料顯示的畫

面下方選 D .

陸、結語

BLDSC及UnCover雖都是提供Article Delivery服務的系統，但基本上還是有以
下差異：
　1．BLDSC收錄範圍以英國出版品為主，當然外國的出版品也不少；UnCover則以美
國出版品為主。
　2．BLDSC收錄的資料類型不限於期刊，還有會議論文集等；UnCover則以期刊為主。
　3．BLDSC提供的文件年代界限以圖書館所擁有的館藏為主；UnCover目前期刊目次
的回溯建檔可能祗到前幾年。
　4．BLDSC祗能查詢書(刊)名、或書刊名的關鍵字；UnCover則能以作者、篇名、刊
名等進行查詢。

雖然BLDSC、UnCover等系統提供了文件傳遞的服務，但切記並非所有的資料都
可在這些系統找到。在查詢不到的情況下，可能還是要透過傳統的國外館際合作以
取得原文。
