National Taiwan University (NTU) has been chosen by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to be one of the Key Cultivation Schools for the “Program on Bilingual Education for Students in College (BEST)” hence the NTU Library provides related support services for the implementation of the English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) education.
Subject librarians can assist professors in teaching and provide information literacy courses on topics such as library resources and the EndNote software. Also, librarians can customize classes or presentations to cover a wide variety of topics to meet the needs of a group, department, or class.
NTU faculty can apply at least one month in advance, and subject librarians will assist in teaching EMI courses!
Subject librarians will give a brief overview of library services, facilities, and resources and let students know how to make better use of the NTU library for their study and research.
Subject librarians will introduce how to install the EndNote software, collect and manage references, and insert and edit citations in a Word document. We recommend that students bring their laptops (with Windows or MacOS) for practice during the session.
Foreign Student Must-Learns: Information, Research, and Search Techniques
NTU library presents the F.I.R.S.T. Workshop: a multi-session workshop designed to help foreign and international students learn how to discover and search for useful research resources in library collections and e-resources. All sessions are conducted in English. Welcome to watch the videos online!
NTU library has a rich multimedia database, which is suitable for EMI courses as teaching materials, including JoVE for biomedical experiment teaching, Naxos Spoken Word Library for literary audiobooks, Packt Video Library for programming languages, KMOVIE for watching popular movies, SAGE Research Methods for social sciences Research methods, etc. Welcome to make full use of those databases to make EMI courses more interesting!
If you are at home or off campus, you must set up the Off-campus Internet Connection Service, also known as a virtual private network (VPN), to access databases, e-journals, and e-books.
