文本藉由說書者要去拜訪在嘉義的老友，描繪台灣各地風情。坐上火車後，一路行經板橋、桃園、新竹、銅羅灣、彰化、員林、雲嘉南等等，從山川風光，到人文風景的差別，都有所描述。
The writer of this folk lyrics work, trying to write in narrating style, used a story about a visit to an old friend in Chia-yi to describe a variety of Taiwan’s regional sceneries and characteristics. Places been described in this folk song mainly were those major towns or cities nearby the path down to Chiayi, including Banciao, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Tongluowan, Changhua, Yuanlin, and Chiayi. Both natural scenery and differences in the human scenery of the places have been well depicted in this folk lyrics work.
