Brief 緣起
美國康乃爾大學（Cornell University）夙負盛名，臺灣大學亦為華人地區居領先地位之大學。近年，網際網路環境發達，圖書館的定位與功能不斷受到挑戰。康乃爾大學圖書館在這一波發展巨流中成功轉型，包括館藏政策，管理型態，館際合作理念，館員能力永續培養等等，均順利達成目標。2011年康乃爾大學圖書館李欣副館長訪問臺灣大學圖書館，雙方理念不謀而合，該校經驗對臺灣大學圖書館相關工作，亦深具參考啟發之價值，並促成雙方加強實質合作之願望。初步將以資源分享為始，期望為後續合作奠定良好基礎。
Due to the development of the Internet in recent years, the purposes and functions of libraries have been challenged constantly. In many aspects, Cornell University Library has transformed substantially despite the tremendous environmental changes. Their success lies in their collection policies, management styles, inter-library collaboration concepts and continuous self-development of staffs. Therefore, the experience provides an inspiring role model for National Taiwan University Library. The visit of Xin Li, Associate University Librarian for Strategic Initiatives, Cornell University Library, to National Taiwan University in 2011, intrigued the collaboration between the two institutions. Since Cornell University upholds a world-wide reputation and National Taiwan University is one of the leading universities in Chinese region, we sincerely hope that by combining forces in resource sharing would establish the foundation for further collaboration in the future.

臺灣大學圖書館陳光華副館長暨相關同仁，與康乃爾大學圖書館李欣副館長、Dean Krafft ( Chief Technology Strategist and Director of Information Technology)、東亞圖書館鄭力人館長進行會談，達成實質合作共識，並以建置聯合資源網站為合作起點。
After a bilateral talk between National Taiwan University Library and Cornell University Library, a collaborative consensus was established by starting a joint resources website. The representatives of the talk were Kuang-hua Chen, Associate University Librarian, National Taiwan University Library, Xin Li, Associate University Librarian for Strategic Initiatives, Cornell University Library, Dean Kraft, Chief Technology Strategist and Director of Information Technology, Cornell University, and Liren Zheng, Curator of Wason Collection on East Asia, Kroch Library, Cornell University.
