Article 1

Purpose:
The National Taiwan University (NTU or “the University”) Library (“the Library”) formulates the NTU Library Directives for the Management of Long-Term Locker Rentals (“the Directives”) to provide dedicated long-term locker rental services for faculty members and students of the University who are in need of such services.

Article 2
|
Eligibility:
Faculty, staff, and students of NTU may apply for long-term locker rentals in accordance with the provisions stipulated herein.

Article 3
|
Reservation method:
- Eligible applicants may visit the Library’s Long-Term Locker Rental Management System website to fill out an application for a locker reservation. Applicants shall fill in all fields with the correct information, print out the confirmation slip if the reservation is successful, and present their faculty/staff/student ID at the information desk of the Library’s Administration Division within five days to complete the application and pay the required fee. Failure to do so by the deadline will result in an automatic cancellation of the reservation.
- To ensure fair use, each applicant may reserve one locker at a time for a rental period of up to six months.
- Current locker renters may submit a new application for locker rental no sooner than seven days prior to the expiration date of their current rental.
- Applicants may choose a specific locker number or have the Library’s system assign one for them.

Article 4
|
Business hours for submitting applications:
Applications are accepted at the Administration Division’s information desk during business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) but not on weekends, University holidays, or national holidays.

Article 5
|
Rental period and fee:
- Locker rentals shall be paid in monthly increments for a period of no longer than six months. Applicants may choose either monthly or semiannual rental based on their needs.
- Two locker sizes are available, standard and large. The rental fee for a standard locker is NT$150 per month or NT$800 for 6 months after discount. The rental fee for a large locker is NT$200 per month or NT$1,000 for 6 months after discount. A refund or change of locker is not permitted once the rental fee is paid.
- To safeguard the rights of renters, the Library’s staff will confirm the identity of each renter and assist them with activating the rented locker. Once the locker has been handed over, the renter shall be responsible for securing the locker door and remembering how to operate it. The locker may be opened and closed for an unlimited number of times throughout the rental period.
- Renters who have lost their locker password or key should request assistance from the Library Administration Division with opening the locker after their identity has been verified. Such assistance is offered free of charge for the first instance during the rental period and at a cost of NT$50 per instance thereafter.

Article 6
|
Rental expiration:
- Renters will receive an email notification or a physical notice will be affixed to their locker seven days prior to the expiration of the rental period. Renters shall clear out their locker on time. The Library will remove any unretrieved items from the locker on the day following the rental expiration date.
- The Library disclaims any responsibility for safeguarding removed items or any liability for damage to them. Renters may claim removed items within 14 days of their removal from the locker. Any items that remain unclaimed after this period may be disposed of by the Library as it deems fit, to which the renter in question may not object.

Article 7
|
Prohibitions and disclaimers:
- Perishables and dangerous items such as flammable or corrosive items may not be stored in the locker. To ensure public safety and health, the Library reserves the right to open the lockers for inspection purposes, the process of which shall be video-recorded. Renters shall indemnify the Library for any damage caused to the rented locker. Those who are found to have violated the preceding stipulations shall have their rental terminated immediately and their privilege to reserve a locker suspended for three months.
- Locker services are offered on an as is basis for the convenience of the renters. Renters shall exercise due care in using their rented locker and shall ensure that the locker door is secured after placing items in it. Renters are advised to keep any valuables on their person. The Library disclaims any responsibility for safeguarding stored items or any liability for lost items.

Article 8
|
Matters not addressed herein shall be subject to applicable laws and regulations.

Article 9
|
The Directives shall be passed by the Library Affairs Meeting and the Administrative Meeting and then implemented on the date of promulgation.
