Article 1

Rationale:

The National Taiwan University (NTU or “the University”) Library (“the Library”) formulates the NTU Library Directives for the Intercampus Loan Service (“the Directives”) to facilitate the utilization of resources held by the Library (including the Main Library and the Medical Library) by members of NTU.

Article 2

Eligibility:

The service is available to current NTU faculty, staff, and students (excluding those whose borrowing privileges are limited to one library/branch).

Article 3

Scope:

  1. All resources held by the Main Library (including branch libraries at the Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics, Institute of Oceanography, and College of Law; the Department of Library and Information Science’s Internship Library; and Koo Chen-Fu Memorial Library) and the Medical Library whose status is listed as “available for circulation” fall under the scope of service.
  2. The service is only available for resources located on another campus. Applicants may not request the service for resources from a branch library (including departmental libraries) located on their campus.
  3. Resources held by the Main Library’s Multimedia Center, designated references held by the Medical Library, and audiovisual resources in open stacks are not available for the service.
Article 4

Application for the service:

  1. First-time users of the service may log into the Intercampus Loan Service system from the Library’s website. Users with an NTU account may log into the system directly. Other users must first apply for an account and wait for system authorization before accessing the Intercampus Loan Service through the Library’s website.
  2. Full-time faculty members on the Main Campus may opt to have resources delivered to their academic program’s office but must first open an account with the Library and make a minimum deposit of NT$100. Delivery fees for service requests submitted thereafter will be debited to the account. If the account balance falls below NT$10, it must be replenished before any further requests for delivery may be submitted.
Article 5

Processing time:

The Library staff will send out the requested resources within three business days (from the day following the date of application) or, if the resources are not available, notify the applicant of the reason by the same deadline.

Article 6

Pickup method and fees:

  1. Applicants may track processing status online, or they may wait for a notification and then visit the Library (Main Library or Medical Library) on their campus within three days to pick up the requested resources by presenting their identification in person. Resources will be released to other members of NTU after the pickup deadline.
  2. Full-time faculty members on the Main Campus may opt to have resources delivered to the administration office of their academic program at a fee of NT$10 per item.
Article 7

Other matters of attention:

  1. Resource borrowing and return records and dates for the intercampus loan service shall be based on the system records maintained by the Library.
  2. Each applicant may request up to 10 items per month through the service, but full-time faculty members and full-time attending physicians are exempt from the preceding limit.
  3. Applicants who fail to pick up a requested resource twice shall have their intercampus loan service privileges suspended for six months.
  4. The Library reserves the right to cancel applicants’ intercampus loan service privileges in accordance with each branch library’s loan policies.
Article 8

Point of contact:

Circulation Desk at the Main Library or the Medical Library

Article 9 Matters not addressed herein shall be subject to the Library’s Borrowing Rules.
Article 10 The Directives shall be passed by the Library Affairs Meeting and then implemented on the date of promulgation.
