Borrowing
NTU faculty, staff and students can use university ID card or library borrower’s card to borrow books from the library.

Recalls
If a book is requested by another user upon checking out, the loan period will be shortened to 14 days. However loan period will not be changed if the book is requested by another user after it has been checked out.
Please note that branch libraries, department libraries and Multimedia center may have different rule with regarding to recall policy.
Reference materials, periodicals and newspapers are limited for use in the library.
Returns
Borrowers can return the books at Main library, branch libraries, department libraries or ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) Service Center no matter the location library of books. Borrowers can also drop their books in the return box located at the entrance of the Main library when the library is closed. Please note the actual return date will be the next day after dropping the books.Renewal
Materials readers borrowed can be renewed and the new loan period is calculated starting from the renewal date. Renewals can be made online, by telephone, or in person. There is a maximum loan period for each reader. Within that period, a reader can renew borrowed materials an unlimited number of times.
Please note that renewal will not be completed in the following conditions:
Item(s) in your record is/are overdue;
Item is on hold (reserved by another user);
User's borrowing privilege is locked temporarily for unpaid fines;
Online Requests
Before readers request books, they have to login in SLIM system. For NTU faculty, student, login in with their NTU Email account. For other readers, including alumni, Retirees, enter their patron ID and Pin. (The default PIN is the same as Patron ID,please change PIN after login) The number of request is limited to 30 items.When the requested item is available for pick-up, besides message displaying in your circulation record, library will also send a circulation pick-up email notice to remind you. The default email address of NTU students is NTU email account; the other users should register a valid email address at circulation services desk for receiving the notice.
All requested item returned will be on hold shelf for 5 working days. If the requester does not pick up the book during the period, the item will be moved to next requester in line or back to library stack. (ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) Service Center collection from its regulations.)
Late Return of Books
Please return all checked out items on or before the due date. If a book is not returned by the due date, it is considered overdue and is subject to overdue fines. Late return of books will be charged NTD$5 overdue fines for each item per day. Overnight item will be charged NTD$5 overdue fines for each item per hour. The fines will be cumulated until the late item returned to libraryUsers with late returned books or unpaid fines cannot check out, renew or request any book.|
Replacement for Lost / Damaged Book
Any defect or damage to a book should be reported to the item location librarian immediately. Users will be responsible for loss or damage to any book in their records, and will be required to pay the full value of replacement. Users should complete the book replacement procedure during 14 days since the book due date; otherwise, users have to pay the overdue fines besides the replacement book or fees. Users can’t ask the library to refund the replacement fees after paying for replacement fees of lost/damaged book.
