Regulations Governing the Management of Venue Rentals for Photography Purposes

Article 1

The National Taiwan University (NTU or “the University”) Library (“the Library”) formulates the NTU Library General Rules (“the Rules”) to provide the services expected of a university library, ensure the equitable use of library resources and equipment by patrons, and maintain a peaceful environment for reading and research within the library premises.

Article 2

Patrons may enter the Library during opening hours with one of the following valid IDs:

  1. An identification card, student ID card, retiree ID card, or alumni card issued by the University
  2. A library card, alumni library card, or interlibrary loan card issued by the Library
  3. Visitors who are Republic of China (ROC) citizens may exchange their ROC-issued National Identification Card, driver’s license, National Health Insurance Card, or other forms of valid photo ID for a temporary library card.
  4. Visitors who are foreign nationals may exchange a passport issued by their home country or other forms of valid photo ID issued by ROC for a temporary library card.

Article 3

Visitors must be at least 18 years of age to enter the Library, but students of higher education institutions under the age of 18 may enter the Library with their student ID.

NTU students may bring children under the age of six into the Library after submitting an application to the Library.

Article 4

Due to limited seating, a limit shall be imposed on the number of visitors allowed in the Library at one time. Once the limit is reached, visitors seeking entry shall be required to wait until other visitors return their temporary library cards and leave the Library. Visitors are not allowed to take their personal books and backpacks with them when entering the Library with a temporary library card. Any such items shall be stored in a locker located at the Library. Visitors must return their temporary library card and retrieve their ID when leaving the Library.

Article 5

NTU alumni may enter the Library and access its collections with their alumni card, and they may use the Library’s Study Room except during examination periods. Alumni who wish to borrow books shall comply with the Library’s Regulations Governing the Borrowing and Usage of Books by Alumni. Visitors may enter the Library and access its collections but may neither check out any materials nor use the Study Room.

Article 6

To maintain a quality library environment, patrons entering the Library shall comply with the Library’s rules and regulations. Any violations shall be handled in accordance with the Library’s Regulations Governing the Handling of Patron Violations.

Article 7

Patrons must comply with the applicable regulations when accessing venues, resources, equipment, and collections on any floor of the Library.

Article 8

Patrons shall exercise due care in safeguarding their temporary library cards and shall report a lost card immediately at the Circulation Service Desk and pay a replacement fee of NT$ 200. The Library disclaims all responsibility for the safekeeping of IDs that are not retrieved by closing time.

Article 9

Each collegiate/departmental branch library may formulate its own regulations to address any special requirements, which shall prevail following passage by the College/Department Library Committee and the Library Affairs Meeting.

Article 10

The Rules shall be passed by the NTU Library Committee and then implemented on the date of promulgation.

  1. The NTU Standards Governing Venue Rental Fees for Photography Purposes (“the Standards”) have been set in accordance with the Library’s Regulations Governing the Management of Venue Rentals for Photography Purposes.
  2. In principle, only the designated public areas of any venue may be rented for photography purposes. The fees for each venue are as follows:

  1. Fee assessment principles: (1)Hourly fees shall be charged by the hour; a partial hour shall be counted as one full hour. Similarly, ime block-based fees shall be charged by time blocks; a partial time block shall be counted as one time block. (2)The rental period shall begin upon the arrival of the photography equipment and conclude after the said equipment is vacated from the Library following the conclusion of the photography project. (3)The fees payable shall be calculated and approved by the Library. Applicants shall pay the required fees in accordance with the Standards within three days of the Library’s approval, and only then may they begin using the rented venue. (4)Applications for wedding photoshoots must be submitted 5 days prior to the photography date. If one of the newlyweds is an NTU faculty, staff, student, or alumnus, a valid form of identification shall be submitted for verification, after which a discount set by each venue may be applied. On the day of the photoshoot, applicants shall comply with all applicable venue regulations and management directives. (5)Applicants, models, staff members, actors, and other supporting personnel who apply to enter the Library for a photography project shall be collectively referred to as crew members. All crew members must be over 18 years of age in order to apply. The maximum number of crew members allowed to enter the Library for each project type is listed in the table below:
